bite the bullet
1. decide to do something difficult or unpleasant that one has been putting off or hesitating over, or in Durrah's terms, EVERY WORK.
This will be one heck of a long post, bear with me. Can't believe that 2016 will be ending in two months when it only seemed like it just started for me thanks to college only starting the later half of the year. Must be due to being used with the beginning of school terms marking the start of the year. Anyway yes let's get on to memory lane of what happened this past two months.
It was my first time in 18 years going to Malaysia's Independence Day Parade in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. To be honest the sole reason I went was to see our Rio Olympics contingent ahaha but I had always wanted to know how it felt like to be walking near Dataran Merdeka past the beautiful classical looking buildings instead of just driving past them every time. Thankfully I had the day off so my dad and my brother fetched me from my residence and we hopped off the LRT from KL Sentral to Pasar Seni and walked to the parade. It was a sunny day and the crowd was like... approximately around more than 10,000 people? Hehehe but I did got what I wanted and saw Dato' Lee Chong Wei, Pandelela Rinong, Azizulhasni Awang just to name a few. Sadly, only saw our Prime Minister and his wife, including the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong through the large screens only.
Moving on. There was the one week mid-semester break a while ago. Had the opportunity to have lunch with my secondary school friends so that was nice. I'm only including this dull description as an excuse to post 16363738292 pictures coming up right after this.
Thank you Zhee Qi for teaching us the art of taking and posing for hipster Instagram worthy pictures.
The struggle going on behind-the-scenes of this picture shall be kept a secret. MIA: Sharon
When it rains, it pours. Definition: A lot of difficult things happening at the same time. Walao eh I'm putting so many proverbs in this post my English teacher must be so proud of me. So yes. Tests and assignments lining up one after another. My Maths test marks are dwindling, no surprise there and Chemistry too sobs. And as there were presentations we had to prepare for at the same time as projects deadlines coming up, going back from college at 6-8PM was a norm but it was worth it I guess for that full marks on my bio project and that compliment from our English teacher whom everyone fears as she has high expectations saying our group presentation was "too damn good" ahaha bless her. Now we're doing argumentative essays with a test coming up on Wednesday. Sigh, how I miss those days of doing creative writing instead zzzz everything must be factual now. Ah how great it is there's also Chemistry topic test on the same day as the essay test in addition to the two trial papers and the chemistry project submission deadline this Friday. Wonderful.
To lighten up the mood, I finally read Harry Potter and The Cursed Child! The first item I bought through online shopping ahaha as it is costly in book stores over RM110++, I got mine secondhand from someone through Carousell half the price so yasss. I loved it, except the part when ____ revealed she was ______ daughter (sorry for the spoilers) I was like whoa there Rowling isn't that stretching the story too far how could her mother do all that in Deathly Hallows while she was pregnant what even but ok ok. Also currently watching Scarlet Heart: Ryeo AFSDGSGSHSJSKKL just watched the 13th episode yesterday and yes when I waste time I find myself watching videos of Lee Jun Ki and Kang Haneul. Cried when the Royal Court Lady died like WHYYY DIRECTOR YOU KILLED OF THE 2ND MOTHER FIGURE TO HAESOO WHY DO THE GOOD DIE FIRST WHY. I almost flipped my laptop when I thought Baek-Ah was stabbed thinking oh nooo his character can't die just yet D: but thankfully he didn't. Let's hope they tie off this drama well with no loose ends like other dramas (coughcoughCheeseInTheTrapcough).
The main cast of Scarlet Heart on the cover of Cosmpolitan, in modern clothing. It is kind of hard to not be obsessed with the drama when you have eight princes' stories to follow ahahaha.
Okay back to MUFY. Currently in the Student Council as the Communications Coordinator omg I can't communicate well with others how do I even handle this but ok hopefully I will do well. Will technically only start next year. A fortnight ago we had the MUFY Talent Quest and my friends and I bought the tickets to support our friends performing. Haih talented people everywhere making you feel more and more potato-like. That evening I went back to college for the MUFY Soup Kitchen event, with only 18 of us from January, March, July and August intakes and most of my friends not signing up kkkk thanks a lot for leaving me alone guys jkjk made new friends so that was a bright side. We went to help the PERTIWI Soup Kitchen organization in two places in Kuala Lumpur that night until 12AM. It was an eye-opening first time experience! Major respect to the person in charge of PERTIWI and those volunteering for making sure these soup kitchens feeding the homeless people run for four nights a week. P.S You can just go there to volunteer and help out without signing up or anything GO GO GO
July intake represent!
As for the SSV club I'm in now, finally my friends signed up as members too yayayay no longer alone during activities. Before they did though went to a food bank charity drive organized by Kechara (which is also a soup kitchen organization) where we sent boxes of food directly to the homes of the less fortunate. It's very sad that there are so many people living in impoverished conditions while still trying their best to raise their little children well. But hey these children are not letting their conditions get in their way as from what I saw, they are getting academic and co-curricular medals and awards I was just like WOW YOU GO PEOPLE RESPECT TO YOU. It's also quite scary how the places they live in are full of fights like just the day before outside a family's apartment unit there a group of men were fighting with knives and parangs and the floor was drenched with blood brrrr. Pray that these innocent families are given better living conditions. These experiences really made me appreciate what I have now and how so, so lucky I am now to live with ease alhamdulillah. It also made me realize that we as the fortunate people should help the less fortunate more once in a while, knowing that yes they do exist a lot of them do and not turn a blind eye to them. Oh my friends and I joined another event through SSV the day after the soup kitchen but throughout the day we were half dead because we had to gather at college at 5AM ahahaha before going to Kota Kemuning for a cleanup event. It wasn't really productive with us in that state plus Kota Kemuning was already clean in the first place what was there to do really.
shameless people celebrating as if they were productive
So that's all for today's post! Tbh this is me escaping the workload I have to do zzzz procrastination again. Please pray that I am given the strength, determination and motivation to finish my work and study hard for the upcoming tests, trials and finals. Here's a song you should listen to:
Ruth B - Lost Boy. Thank you classmates for singing this song during the talent show and making it stuck in my head. While the lyrics seem happy and all about Peter Pan and Neverland, once you listen to it being sung, your heart just fills with sorrow and you wonder if the persona in this song is talking about him committing suicide or dead from abuse... or am I thinking too much?
Thank you for reading!
