Wow I'm putting one post after another. This one is somehow related to the previous one about WINNER . I'm talking about their brothers, IKON. p.s this post is centered around B.I and Hongseok sorry.

If you're a K-Pop fan, you might have heard of IKON/B.I/Bobby and wondered who the hell are they. It's 2015 and it all started two years ago, in 2013. I'm just going to copy the same thing from my previous WINNER post: 

WIN : Who Is Next is a survival show in 2013. When SM has so many boygroups (TVXQ, SuJu, SHINee, EXO) and girlgroups (SNSD, f(x)) by then, JYP too (2PM, 2AM, Miss A, Wonder Girls), YG Entertainment only had TWO groups - Big Bang and 2NE1, the former debuted EIGHT YEARS ago and the latter debuting four years later. In this show, among two teams of trainees of YG Entertainment who has trained for years, they will compete so that only one team will debut as the WINNER (Who Is Next, WIN, WINNER, get it?). There was Team A with five members and Team B with six members. The average age for Team A members is 20-ish years old while in Team B the average age is 18. In the end, Team A won and became the WINNER we know today.

What happened with Team B? (I'm sorry but I'm not introducing each of the members, I'm too lazy haha).

YG's cruelty lol. There was this show for rappers called Show Me The Money season 3 and the two rappers of Team B, B.I and Bobby were shoved into it. Can you imagine? Losing in a survival show, having to compete in another? In that show, experienced underground rappers were competing and suddenly these two teenage idols-to-be who are already in a big entertainment company were joining too? They were dissed, of course. To the others, idol rappers are those who rap in groups just because they can't sing. It didn't help that at the same time, Mix & Match's filming was starting too, so B.I and Bobby were recording for two shows at the same time. It was especially hard for B.I as in Mix & Match he was the leader and had to compose songs, choreograph dances and write lyrics AND at the same time do and memorize lyrics for Show Me The Money. The other rappers disses were like, "I don't need Team A or Team B, I'll still be the winner." and calling Bobby as Barbie doll. And.. yeah.. B.I didn't do quite well in SMTM, he forgot his lyrics a lot. Bobby, meanwhile, was busy crushing everyone by performing well. They showed previous performances when B.I couldn't control his feelings and shouted "Does your company makes more money than mine?" etc and sprayed water to the audience. But yeah, the show had B.I and Bobby cursing and showing the middle finger on air etc.

 B.I got eliminated in the semifinals, but he left with a bang. His last performance entitled Be I was so good, he didn't forget any lyrics, the lyrics were great and the song was playing in the radios, topping the charts. In the show itself the other rappers were complimenting him saying that that was the best performance ever in the compeition. You can look up the performance video yourself, but here's the translations for it:

"Pretending to be calm but can't concentrate on my lyrics. / I know what they gonna say sh*t about me/ The kid that got far through luck /The kid that survived through his company's help / That bastard that f*cked up his lyrics he got carried away by his confidence /In this rapper survival show why is there a pretty idol?" Gave me chills, man. 

In his last interview there when asked how the experience in the show was, he said, "It was like hell. But hell became comfortable and I don't mind coming back." So etc etc who would have expected it but Bobby, this 'idol rapper', won the show, defeating experienced rappers and all. 

And the airing of Mix & Match started, ANOTHER survival show for Team B to debut, where they will be changing their name to IKON. The good thing is B.I, Bobby and Jinhwan are already confirmed members of it. The down side is the other three original Team B members will have to compete with three newcomers (literally new, some only trained for a few months) to get the other four spots as IKON will be a 7-membered group. 

It was exciting for me last year as I got to watch the live streaming of the show every Thursday at 10 PM in Malaysia, 11 PM in Korea. Of course it was stressful to wait for the next episode the following week, and waiting for someone to put subtitles in the episodes (so I watched each episode twice lol). I joined this forum called Onehallyu where fans around the world discussed about the show and where I got updates about IKON. I would end up knowing what's happening to them two episodes before it was aired hahaha. Here's some pictures of not being able to focus in class thinking of them:

random thoughts while watching the show: i ship lee hayi and b.i?? suhyun and jinhwan?? hahhaha even though she's only 15 at that time and he's 20. at first i thought hongseok looked like baekhyun. yunhyeong and donghyuk really really stepped up in their game a lot since WIN. go yoyo! kinda disagreed with basket case and let it go winning first in their respective episodes :// how can the charismatic b.i dancing during rocket be the same person screaming because he's afraid of bugs and acting so childishly in osaka lul. junhoe is such a diva. 

Now, about the choice of the members. RANT STARTING HERE. I wanted Hongseok or Jinhyeong in IKON instead of Chanwoo tbh. I don't know where to start my rant. Last year's experience of debating with his fans was ridiculous. See, Team B lost WIN, BECAUSE OF THEIR VOCALS. I showed a compilation of videos of Jinhyeong, Chanwoo and Hongseok singing and if it was up to their PERFORMANCES ONLY, Jinhyeong and Hongseok were better.

Judge yourself.

But of course, the majority was voting for Chanwoo, because he's 'cute', he 'fits in' and 'the members like him'. I'm sorry, I didn't know this was a contest to see who can be the best younger brother? It's funny that I never see anyone complimenting his singing or dancing when it'll be IKON's MUSIC we'll be listening? I was mad because it was so painfully obvious the show producers were doing biased editing. Chanwoo could say he wants to improve himself and boom you get five minutes of him while Jinhyeong and Hongseok only gets half a minute for doing the same thing? Instead, they highlighted the parts Hongseok got scolded and.. immature fans started calling him 'rude'? Every week I watch each new episode with Maryam and we'll get overly excited whenever Hongseok appears because he gets THAT little screentime. 

People say, Hongseok's not 'YG style. He's not hip-hop.' So.. WINNER who sings ballads and is so successful is YG style? How about Lee Hayi? How about Akdong Musician? They're under YG too lol. People say Hongseok's 'rude' and the members 'dislike' him. My friend, you got fooled by the editing of the show. It's sad that they cut off all the funny unedited parts of him getting along with the other members. He's the closest one to Bobby, Donghyuk and Junhoe lol, but of course you're too absorbed by the show, you were too busy hating on him.

Wanna hear a funny story? Last year there was another video compilation of the three newcomers of them singing, and everyone was busy complimenting Jinhyeong and Hongseok instead that a group of Chanwoo fans reported the video and it was deleted because of it. Talk about pathetic.

You know what's sad? That Jinhyeong, who was a pretty good singer and dancer could almost got in if it wasn't for the rumours started by fans of Team B (who didn't want him to join IKON fearing the original members of Team B won't stay together) saying he bullied and sexually harassed people and got kicked out of school. So many people believed in it and it was already too late when his own teachers and friends said that he was a good student and the rumours were false and he suffered because of it. It didn't help that YG didn't bother clearing up his name too. It was also stupid that IKON would be promoted in China.. and Hongseok's the only person who could speak Chinese..

You know what's sad? How YG turned Hongseok's dream and passion into a marketing tool for his group, and how dumb fans took his smile. How this bright smile:

Always ranked last even with his talent, never complimented once. This boy who was already in university in Hong Kong dropped out to chase his dreams. I actually had hope when videos from the final battle (around two weeks before the last episode was aired) were leaked, especially this one:

I stayed up every night for the announcement of each members and when Chanwoo was announced as the 6th member, I just felt.. numb. There was no way Hongseok will be getting in instead of Donghyuk. 

So yeah, I guess here it is, my four months overdue rant. So far, Hongseok's been trending in Korean sites even two months after Mix & Match ended. The original singer of I Want You (the performance with Hongseok, Junhoe and Jinhwan) posted an Instagram video of their performance, specifically Hongseok's part with the caption 'Good luck IKON!' lol if only he knows that the guy in his video is no longer in. Jinhyeong left YG. RANT ENDS HERE.

I refreshed on Epik High's official Youtube page before they released the Born Hater MV and well iT'S A GREAT SONG WITH A GREAT VIDEO HAHAHAH. hanbin y u do dis 2 me. It's funny that Epik High said that there would be a featured singer in that song and it turns out to be B.I when he's not even a singer. Their live performances during MAMA and SBS Gayo Daejun rocked. Plus the fact that B.I created the music for Empty and Born Hater is just wow. When Lee Hi and Suhyun's MV for I'm Different came out too I was hyperventilating while watching the video hahahaha iT'S SO UNLIKE BOBBY TO BE SO COOL LIKE THAT OK. The making of the video is funny too. And when Masta Wu + Dok2 + Bobby's Come Here MV came out im like bobby why why but the song is good ok.

The Mix & Match DVD has been put for some time, and it's literally sold in shoeboxes. There's much more content there, unedited and we get to see each members having equal amount of screentime. I kinda downloaded the photobook hahaha and watched videos from the DVD online with subtitles. B.I BEING AFRAID WITH HAYI IS THE BEST THING EVER HAHAHAHA. Loved the part when everyone went out to eat together with their collab team, Hongseok ate so much hahaha. Also loved watching B.I picking out presents for the rest of the members and shouting KAWAII randomly and the rest getting Halloween makeup. Here's some random pictures:

I got kinda sad with all the controversies IKON's having, with Bobby's diss battles and B.I's father to Bobby's weird answers during his interviews. Please stay strong, and please please please be more careful with your words TT_TT, especially during interviews and during concerts. Please have a safe and succesful debut too!
