Palace Of The Damned

Assalamualaikum =D Did you all had a nice weekend? Well, I did. I finished reading Darren Shan's Palace Of The Damned. If you don't know, Palace of The Damned (POTD) is the third book in The Saga of Larten Crepsley.

And, if you don't know who Larten Crepsley is, he was the person who blooded Darren Shan (not the author, mind you) and played as Darren's mentor and a father figure to him. And, if you don't have the slightest idea who Darren Shan is, I suggest you to READ HIS BOOKS NOW, because you are seriously missing out something big. So, back to the topic. Warning though, this post might have spoilers. POTD just came out this month and I am happy to say I was one of the earliest people who bought this book in Malaysia :D. Ok, ok, I better stop beating around the bush now. The book continues from where Ocean of Blood ended, somewhere in Greenland with the baby. There, he accidentally found the mythical tomb like a palace and coffins made of ice. Surprise, surprise, he also found the corpse of Perta Vin-Grahl. I know some people will hate me for giving out spoilers so I'll just tell you this. In this book, you will learn how Larten Crepsley started wearing the color red, why he is afraid of riding air vehicles, who the woman in the painting which Steve Leonard saw Larten Crepsley in is. Oh and most of the setting takes place in Paris. I can't help telling you this great revelation: The baby whose parents Larten Crepsley killed in Ocean of Bloods name is Gavner Purl. Shocking, right? I also love how Kurda Smahlt was introduced in this book. In a nutshell, I have to give this book a 10/10 rating. But then I am the type who gives a 10/10 rating to ALL Darren Shan's book because it is so great! I can't wait for the next book, Brothers to the Death to come out in May 2012. "What do you mean?" Alicia asked, frowning at him as they reached the small house where she and Sylva lived.
"We do not have much to do with human politicians or soldiers," Larten said, pausing at the door to cast one last glance at the setting sun. "But occasionally a group tries to forge links with us and we find ourselves having to deal with them. This is one such time and I am worried about the outcome. Tell me, Alicia, what do you know about Nazis?"
I love the dramatic last sentence the most! I wonder what's going to happen... Will he meet Adolf Hitler? Anne Frank? Anyway, this book just lets you enter another world, with the right amount of action, romance(oh yes, there's plenty of it in this book), and horror. You'll be at the edge of your seat reading it. So what are you waiting for, go get this book!
