Warning. Very long post ahead with a lot of pictures.
Assalamualaikum. Actually had a productive week heh. Depends on how you define productive- Went to Makassar on Tuesday and . Yeah yeah yeah I know a lot of people don't even know where it is. Germany? No. Greece? Ha. Romania? Uhh. It's in Indonesia. It's around the right/east side of Sarawak. If you're in my class at school, Sheann did a presentation about the living dead/zombies in Tana Toraja, Indonesia and well, Makassar is very, very, near that place.
Day 1
I suck at writing like this hahaha. It was a three hours flight. Oh yeah I went with my parents only. They played SNSD's The Boys in the plane. Stayed in a distant relative's house. Called him Pak Atja and he's like my mum's cousin and his wife is Ibu Endang. It gets dark really fast there. Although the time is the same as Malaysia, Maghrib is like at 5.50 PM, Subuh around 4AM, Zuhur 11 something, Asar around 3PM. Ate at a seafood restaurant. If you know me, I don't eat any animals coming from the water at all hahaha but that night I ate a lot of prawns and even tried this weird fish called Ikan Kudu-kudu. Was watching Breaking Dawn part 2 on the TV the whole time I was eating and nearly cried in the end even though it's my second time watching it haha. I had no signal on my phone and I can't use the Internet.
Oh memalukannya. Did I tell you that I didn't meet any female there taller than me.

Trying to act all cool. This is so embarrassing hahahaha. (In the car in Malaysia)
At the airport (still in Malaysia).
Picking which fish to eat outside the restaurant (I was recoiling in terror)
Day 2
The only reason we were there actually was because my mum had a conference at a university there and her students who stayed in the university for five days was participating in a poster competition. That day was also my parents' 25th anniversary yayers. So yeah my father and I tagged along to the university hall and sat while the hall's being filled in with other students there (mostly girls). Throughout the whole thing my father and I weren't paying attention that much. He slept and ate Kit Kat chocolate bars secretly while I was playing Candy Crush and read Stephen King's Cell. The woman beside me did not approve. Then the break session came and bla bla bla my father and I was taken to jalan-jalan around Makassar with a driver which was Pak Atja's student. We went to Trans Studio which is an indoor theme park in a mall, kinda like Universal Studio I think? It was like a horror movie hahahaha since the theme park was empty with loud circus-y music. At first cam malu-malu nak naik roller coaster and all the rides since it would be awkward to be the only person riding it and screaming alone. But people started to come in and yeah, had lots of fun going to the rides with my father. Even went to a haunted hause ermahgerd that was so scary. Ada bomoh, pocong, Voldemort-like soemthing, small kids, doctor in a hospital room, coffins, bedrooms, paintings. We even got to watch a street show which was a skit/dance with Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley in it.
Breakfast ohoho.
Two clueless people.
Don't mind the weird tudung style- changed it later.
Recorded these videos.
Marilyn Monroe's sweet voice hohoho.
Elvis Presley menari weyh.
Michael Jackson kesayanganku.
All non-filtered images ohoho. Thanks to Anja (?) for taking the pictures.
All of the participants of the conference (including foreigners from England, France, India, Malaysia, etc.) were invited for dinner at the governor's house (kind of like the Menteri Besar lah). Again, mostly seafood. There were a lot of performances and speeches and I played Danger Dash mostly on my phone hehehe.
Day 3
Jalan-jalan with Ibu Endang and my mother's three students after a continuation of the conference (I slept at home). Total number of people in the car: 8. Went to Pasar Butung. Finally, there's Wi-Fi there! It was mostly my mum and her students shopping and my father and I finding a spot to sit down and use the Internet heh. Then went to a famous masjid there which was above the sea and took pictures. Went to a mall at night. Ate at a seafood restaurant for dinner too. K enough nah gambar.
Day 4
Didn't do anything much. Stayed at the house playing Danger Dash alone while my mum attended the closing ceremony of the conference while my father walked alone to the masjid for Solat Jumaat. Two of my mum's students won the poster competition, one first-place and another second-place. Went to M'Tos (cam Amcorp lah). Then we packed because we would be staying in a hotel inside the airport for the last night as our flight the next day is at 6.30 AM and the check-in at 4.30 AM. Went to the hotel inside the airport. Had dinner at Coffee Bean. With free wi-fi! Ermahgerd it was the MAMA MNET 2013 awards at that time too. Temankan my mum shopping at the souvenir shops while I sat at a chair outside. Was bored so I sang. Nasib baik takde passerbys stop. The bookshop there was full of so many nice books like John Green's ones, Dan Brown, Rick Riordan but all of them were translated into Indonesian haih. Bought a Korean book which was translated into Indonesian called He Was Cool 2.
Goodbye picture hurr. Ya saya nampak huge di sini tapi saya memang huge di first place pun.
Day 5
Too lazy to type. So we flied off to Malaysia yay. They played Fantastic Baby in the bus hahaha.
Found this photo book of SHINee In Barcelona but all of the words inside are in Indonesian hahaha.
Dah end of story k bye.
EXTRAS:
[Wrote this in a memo on my phone on the second day while waiting hahahaha don't judge. Un-edited.]
Makassar, Indonesia. Day 2, 20th Nov '13, 1PM. Currently waiting for the car to come and fetch my father and I from this university. Ermahgerd the way they dress up here is so pretty!!! Majority of the female students here are dressed up in plain pastel colored tudung bawal/shawls with their shirts tucked in their skirts. Most of the time I'm just sitting down here dressed up fully in black to gape at them. The skirts are not the form-fitting ones but pleated A-lines. They all look like they came straight out of magazines except: 1.None of them wears makeup 2.Their skirts end just above their ankles and all of them wear white socks 3.They carry backpacks. Seriously, I feel so out of place with my pants. Hehe, I'm thinking of changing my style but people will say its weird in Malaysia. Right. Must buy at least one skirt later. K I shall enjoy the sceneries now.
Sounds interesting of your vacation.. enjoyed it
